After a disastrous first three months of the year, financial markets rebounded sharply in the second quarter as investors largely shrugged off coronavirus concerns. Unprecedented levels of monetary and fiscal stimulus fueled investor momentum, while state reopenings allowed economic activity to slowly pick up in many areas around the country. Despite a surge in new COVID-19 cases in the month of June, widespread optimism sent the S&P 500® Index to its best quarter in over 20 years, as it ended the most recent three-month period up 20.54%.
